Founded in 1997, Jarvis Tree Service was born out of a commitment to hard work and a job well done. Jeff Jarvis, our founder, began this journey with nothing but determination, spending the first two years working entirely by hand, tackling every task the hardest way possible. Over the past 27 years, Jeff has grown the business from a one-man operation to a thriving team of 15 dedicated professionals.
Starting out as a self-employed individual, Jeff faced significant challenges, from securing financing to acquiring the right equipment. These early struggles shaped Jeff into a highly independent and meticulous leader, always striving to do things the right way. Whether it’s cutting trees, clearing riverbanks, or cleaning properties, our team regularly encounters poison ivy, which led Jeff to search for effective solutions to combat the persistent irritation.
After trying countless products from big stores, pharmacies, and even resorting to medical treatments, Jeff decided to think outside the box. Frustrated by the ineffectiveness of modern remedies, he turned to old-fashioned lye soap but found that even those had changed over time. Determined to find a solution, Jeff partnered with a manufacturer, testing numerous samples until he discovered the perfect recipe. This is how Jarvis Poison Ivy Soap was born.

Jeff Jarvis began his research by gathering information on plants known to cause these irritating issues.
